The HSE is running their Head Lice Campaign from the 9th-13th October
– as you well know it is an issue that can present in Early Years Services, causing anxiety to parents, children and staff.
The attached materials have been designed to help to de-stigmatise the infection and give clear information to parents on the key role they can play in preventing the spread of infection by wet-combing the child’s hair weekly.
The information will also support Early Years staff in managing this infection.
Please find the Head Lice Campaign Information below:
- Guideline for the Control of Headlice Infection in Children
- Head Lice Leaflet for Parents
- A Lesson Plan for children in Early Years Services is being developed – this will be sent out to early childhood services and added to the DCCC website in the near future.
The Guidelines and the parent and child materials are also available for downloading on the HSE website http://www.hse.ie/eng/health/
