A one-day seminar will be facilitated by Canavan and Byrne on Saturday the 24 of March in Letterkenny and will cover 2 key focus areas:
General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and HR Challenges in Early Childhood Services.
General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
Early Childhood Services handle a wide variety of personal and private data that falls under the remit of data protection. Services will have increased responsibilities under the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] which come into force in May 2018. The GDPR gives the data protection authorities greater powers in tackling non-compliance which can include fines of up to €20,000,000 or 4% of turnover, whichever is the greater.
Many of the requirements of the GDPR are the same as those set out under the Data Protection Acts, 1988 and 2003. There are, however, some new elements and enhanced requirements which require consideration. It is essential that Early Years Services ensure that they meet the new compliance requirements.
HR Challenges for Early Childhood Services
The HR Session will provide practical advice on the many HR Challenges facing Early Years childcare providers.
Through a variety of case studies it will deal with typical inquiries that Canavan Byrne deal with on a day-to-day basis including but not limited to;
- Ensuring Tusla and the Workplace Relations Commission compliance
- Record Keeping
- Types of Contract of Employment including the ECCE Contract (Term-Time Contract) employer obligations for part time and relief staff contracts
- Negotiating changes to contracts and terms and conditions of employment
- Managing difficult HR issues – redundancy and restructuring.
