In support of Active Donegal Month, DCCC are calling on all early childhood service to organise an innovative and fun parent & child active event. All you have to do is complete our registration form found below and on our Facebook page and return by Friday 25th May 2012. Once you have carried out your parent & child active event all you have to do is send us a picture of your event and some details about what you did, who and how many took part and what the benefits were to be returned to DCCC by 15th June 2012 to be entered into our ‘Just Try It’ Competition to win 1 of 5 Buntús Start Bags.

Say NO to Poisons!

The National Poisons Information Centre (NPIC) at Beaumont Hospital has recently developed a “Say NO to Poisons!” storybook, activities and Learning Plan, in collaboration with County Carlow VEC. The aim of the storybook and materials is to increase awareness and promote safety about poisons in pre-school children. The “Say NO to Poisons!” storybook has been endorsed by Early Childhood Ireland and was funded by the HSE.
At the launch of the book at the National Poisons Awareness Day on 20th April, Ms. Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs praised the “Say NO to Poisons!” book as an excellent educational resource for pre-school children.

‘Just Try It’ – June 2012

With sporting fever due to take over the airwaves this summer, we invite you to take part in ‘Just Try It’ June 2012. Why not make June 2012 your month to take up a new sport, join your local sports club or just get active.
The ‘Just Try It’ June 2012 campaign, led by the Donegal Sports Partnership, is bringing together a host of sporting and recreational events to help get Donegal more active, and we want you to be part of it.
DCCC are calling on all early childhood services to organise an innovative and fun event to get children and parents active! The more innovative and fun the event the better, remember it’s about participation!

What is the DCCC ‘Just Try It’ Competition?

In support of Active Donegal Month, Donegal County Childcare would like you to organise an event for your early childhood service.
This event should involve parents and children, this could be in the form of a sponsored walk, a treasure trail, Woodland Adventures etc.

What do I have to do?

All you have to do is complete the below registration form to register your event with Active Donegal Month, carry out your event, send in a picture of your activity and some details about what you did, who and how many took part and what the benefits were.
Closing date for return of parent & child active event registration forms is Friday 25th May 2012.
All active event images and captions returned to DCCC by 15th June 2012 will be entered into a competition to win a Buntús Start Bag. DCCC and Donegal Sports Partnership are sponsoring 5 Buntús Start Bags as prizes.

The attached application form is for completion by Community based groups and voluntary Organisations in the HSE West (Donegal) for funds from the above Grant Scheme.

Grants will only be allocated to community-based projects under the headings:

• Learning Disability
• Physical Disability
• Older People Services
• Mental Health Services
• Children’s Services
• Personal Social Services
• Women’s Health Services
(including information and counselling services)

Grants will only be considered for viable schemes which will be completed within a reasonable period.
