National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP) 2006-2013
The National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP) 2006-2013, succeeds and builds further on the Equal Opportunities Childcare Programme (EOCP) 2000-2006. The programme aims to provide a proactive response to the development of quality childcare supports and services, which will be planned for and developed locally and centred on the needs of the child and the family. DCCC plays a key role in the implementation of the NCIP at a local level, facilitating local needs and assisting with the development of high quality childcare supports and services.
Key Objectives of the National Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2013
- Increase the supply and improve the quality of early childhood care and education services, part-time and full day care, school age childcare and childminding
- Improve the supply of early childhood care and education services for 3 to 4 year olds
- Target the unmet need for school age childcare services
- Support families and break the cycle of disadvantage
- Further develop the structures for co-ordination between statutory and non-statutory actors in the sector.
