DCCC is rolling out the following training courses over the next few months.
Updated Creating Lifelong Readers Programme
What does the programme cover?
CLR explores how to provide literacy and numeracy rich learning experiences in a preschool setting and ties these learning activities into open-ended learning within the context of Síolta, Aistear and the DES Early Years Focussed Inspections. The programme also includes information for Early Educators to deliver a parent information session and operate a lending library through their preschool.
The CLR programme is delivered as part of the Education and Learning subgroup of Children and Young People’s Services (CYPSC) and includes free resources such as lending library book bags, a box of children’s books and parent information leaflets.
Who is this training for?
The training is for Early Educators working in a preschool service and is relevant to staff who are new to the programme or staff looking for updated information on how to plan and deliver literacy and numeracy learning to children.
Early Educators STEM-themed Meet up
Wednesday 13th November 7:15 – 8:30
DCCC in conjunction with TT Childcare (Stranorlar) would like to invite Early Educators to our next meet up. These evenings are organised for educators to come visit a childcare service, network with their peers, share ideas and get new information. November’s meet up is themed around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The staff team of TT childcare have kindly offered to host the open door evening and set up practical ideas for educators to explore. Hope to see you all there!
Promoting child development with age and stage appropriate equipment
A workshop for staff working with children under 2 by Helga Tinneny
The workshop is designed specifically for Early Educators working in baby and toddler rooms with children aged 6 months – 2 years of age. Helga is a Lifestart Family Visitor and will bring Educators through the various key stages of child development including how to use specific types of equipment that can support and challenge each stage. Since Helga’s presentation at DCCC’s seminar in May 2019, a lot of Donegal’s early childhood services have been waiting for a full workshop by Helga!
