Re-opening support for CHILDMINDERS
Childminders are permitted to re-open on Monday 29th June in line with the Governments roadmap for re-opening society. To support Childminders in doing so a funding package has been announced by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
There are two different packages depending on your childminding status.
Scenario 1: Childminders PARTICIPATING on DCYA ELC and SAC programmes.
Childminders participating on one or more of DCYA ELC and SAC funding programmes can apply for both the COVID-19 Capital Grant and the Reopening Support Payment.
COVID- 19 Capital Grant:
This grant can be used by services to help them to adhere to the reopening guidelines by improving hygiene facilities and outdoor play areas. This will reduce the risk posed by COVID-19. Allowable expenditure will include:
Outdoor play equipment; Outdoor shade and shelter to enable outdoor play as much as possible; Additional handwashing and toilet facilities; Purchase of partitions or room dividers to enable play pods to remain separate in larger rooms; and Installation of screens in reception areas.
Childminders with up to 11 children registered on DCYA ELC and SAC programmes are eligible for a grant of €1,000
Reopening Support Payment:
The Reopening Support Payment (RSP) will be available to ELC and SAC providers to support them in meeting the reopening guidelines, to support children to remain in ‘play pods’ to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread, and to meet additional staffing needs during the reopening period.
Allowable expenditure includes:
Additional staffing costs; Additional learning resources and toys; Hygiene supplies/consumables, such as sanitiser, soap, and paper towels; Cleaning consumables.
Childminders with up to 11 children registered on DCYA ELC and SAC programmes are eligible for a grant of up to €2,000
Scenario 2: Childminders NOT participating on DCYA funding programmes
An individual grant of €500 per childminder is available to assist with the additional costs of reopening. This grant is available exclusively to childminders who:
