Job Description
A vacant position will become available from September, the role of room leader in one of our Play Groups.
Room Leaders are responsible for the overall running of their assigned playroom in a nursery or similar setting, for children in the service.
At a glance, their role includes delivering and maintaining high quality care that stimulates children and aids each child’s personal development. It also involves supervising other playroom staff, sharing professional knowledge to improve practices, and making sure all regulatory requirements are complied with in the setting. As a leader and manager, the Room Leader should not only build positive relationships with staff, but also with the parents and carers of the children. This ensures open communication, so everything operates smoothly and to a high standard throughout the playroom, including children’s education, care, and playtime.
Qualifications Required
– level 6 or higher from a recognised body
– minimum two years’ experience in a childcare setting
– Previous experience in a senior role would be a distinct advantage
– A working knowledge of working with the Aistear curriculum and Siolta quality framework
– Good communication skills: fluency in both written and spoken English.
Experience Required
– Manage the practitioners within your room as well as maintaining a high standard of quality of childcare.
– To work in a flexible and professional manner alongside the team for the benefit of the crèche.
– To work in line with policies and procedures when carrying out any tasks.
– Be organised with the ability to delegate.
